⚔️ TIES, DNPs, and VOIDED Picks – What You Need to Know

How Payday handles ties, DNPs, and voided picks—and how they may impact your entries and payouts.

Updated over a month ago

In sports, unexpected outcomes can happen — from player injuries to ties on projections. Here's a breakdown of how Payday Fantasy handles TIES, DNPs (Did Not Play), and VOIDED Picks, and how they may affect your entries and payouts.

🟨 What Happens if a Player Ties Their Projection?

If a player finishes the game with a score that exactly matches their projection, it’s considered a TIE. In these cases, we don’t automatically void the entire entry. Instead, we apply a dynamic payout structure that recalculates your entry based on the remaining eligible legs.

When this happens:

  • Your entry is reduced by one leg.

  • The entry will automatically recalculate your payout dynamically based on the number of remaining eligible legs.

Tied legs are treated similarly to a DNP (Did Not Play). They reduce the number of active picks but don’t count as a win or a loss.

If too many legs are TIE, DNP, or VOIDED, and there aren’t enough eligible legs left to calculate a payout, your entry will be refunded.

❌ Why Was My Pick Marked as DNP (Did Not Play)?

A pick may be marked as DNP for the following reasons:

  • The player didn’t play at all — not even a single play.

  • Game cancellation or postponement — if the game was canceled or rescheduled.

  • Board error — if a projection was clearly incorrect (e.g., a QB listed with 25 TDs) or if a prop remained active after the game started.

  • System issues — glitches or manual mistakes could cause certain picks to be marked as DNP.

⚠️ Note: At Payday Fantasy, player participation status is determined using official data feeds provided by our third-party sports data partners. These feeds indicate whether a player is active, inactive, ruled out, or did not play (DNP).

When a player is officially reported as inactive, ruled out, or DNP, any selections involving that player may be voided prior to or during settlement in accordance with our gameplay rules. Payday Fantasy reserves the right to void or mark any projection as DNP at its sole discretion.

Data Source Determination

Player status determinations are based on the information received from our official league data providers. Payday Fantasy relies on these feeds to determine player eligibility and settlement outcomes.

Rare Data Correction Scenarios

In extremely rare circumstances, a player who was initially reported as ruled out or inactive by official data sources may later appear in the game due to a late lineup change, medical reevaluation, or correction by the league.

If a player has already been voided based on the official data feed indicating they were ruled out, the following rule applies:

Any selections involving that player will remain voided and will not be reinstated or regraded, even if the player later appears in the game.

Data Feed Reliance & Finality

Payday Fantasy relies on official third-party data feeds for player status and game information. In the event of delayed updates, corrections, or errors within these feeds, Payday Fantasy reserves the right to rely on the information available at the time settlement decisions are made.

Once a selection has been voided based on an official inactive or DNP designation from the data provider, that determination is considered final and will not be reversed due to later corrections, lineup changes, or participation occurring after the void decision was applied.

Reason for This Policy

This rule exists to ensure:

  • Consistent and fair grading across all users

  • Integrity and stability of the settlement process

  • Protection against retroactive changes to previously settled entries

Summary

  • Player status is determined using official third-party data feeds.

  • Players reported as inactive, ruled out, or DNP may result in selections being voided.

  • If a player later appears in the game after being voided, the void remains final and entries will not be regraded.

  • Payday Fantasy reserves the right to rely on official data feeds at the time settlement decisions are made.

💸 How Do DNPs Affect My Entry and Payouts?

If a player in your entry is marked as DNP, your entry remains eligible but will be dynamically recalculated based on the remaining active picks.

We apply a dynamic payout structure that recalculates your entry based on the remaining eligible legs.

If too many legs are TIE, DNP, or VOIDED, and there aren’t enough eligible legs left to calculate a payout, your entry will be refunded.

⚠️ Special Case: Voided Picks Policy (Injuries)

In rare cases, a player pick may be voided due to an injury during gameplay under our Voided Picks Policy. This policy applies only to injuries and does not cover cases like players being benched or ejected for performance or disciplinary reasons.

🩼 Voided Picks apply only when a player is injured during the game (not benched or ejected). *Please note that each sport/league has its own rules for VOIDED Policy qualification*

📝 When a player’s pick is voided, all projections — including BOTH MORE and LESS picks, as well as any ALT lines — will be fully voided.

🛡️ This policy is designed to protect users against random injuries that are beyond the player or team’s control, not coaching decisions or performance-based events.

If too many legs are TIE, DNP, or VOIDED, and there aren’t enough eligible legs left to calculate a payout, your entry will be refunded.

General Rule for DNP, Ties, and Voided Picks in Your Entry

Any entry containing a DNP, TIE, or VOIDED pick will result in a reduction of the entry by one leg or a combination of legs, depending on the number of remaining eligible picks. The payout will be dynamically recalculated based on the remaining active picks.

  • A DNP or TIE will reduce the total number of picks in the entry, and the payout will be adjusted accordingly.

  • A VOIDED pick (due to injury) will also reduce the entry by one leg, and the payout will be recalculated based on the remaining active picks.

  • If there are not enough eligible picks left to complete the entry (e.g., a 2-Pick Entry with 1 DNP and 1 Tie), the entire entry will be voided and refunded.

Recalculating Your Entry After a VOID, DNP, TIE

When a pick in your entry is voided — due to a VOID, DNP (Did Not Play), TIE, or any other valid void reason — our system will automatically recheck the entry to make sure it still meets the required rules.

Per Payday Fantasy rules:

  • Each entry must include predictions on at least two different players, and

  • Those players must come from at least two different teams.

If a voided pick causes your entry to no longer meet these requirements — for example, if the remaining picks are all from the same team — then the entire entry must be voided.

This is to ensure that every entry continues to follow the original qualification rules, even after adjustments.
